How We Make Our Tinctures
We start with the mushroom fruiting body

We use 100% fruiting bodies in all of our tinctures, never mycelium on grain, to ensure that we extract the highest concentration of beneficial compounds. Fruiting bodies contain the full spectrum of bioactive compounds, including the potent polysaccharides and triterpenes that provide the powerful health benefits our tinctures are known for. The majority of the mushrooms we use are sourced directly from our own farm, where we cultivate them . Our farm’s natural environment provides optimal growing conditions, allowing us to create mushrooms that are rich in both nutrients and medicinal properties. For the few mushrooms we do outsource, we work only with trusted, vetted suppliers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability. Before being used in any batch, each mushroom is meticulously inspected. We check for any signs of mold, contamination, or damage, ensuring that only the cleanest, highest-quality mushrooms make it into our tinctures. This attention to detail guarantees that every drop of our tincture contains the most potent, effective medicine possible.
Let those mushrooms soak

To ensure an efficient and thorough extraction, the mushrooms are finely chopped or ground into smaller pieces. This increases the surface area, which allows us to extract the maximum amount of beneficial compounds. Fungi, unlike plants, have chitin-based cell walls, which are tough and difficult to break down. By grinding the mushrooms, we help to disrupt these walls, making it easier to release the potent bioactive compounds that lie within. Then begin a long maceration process using high-quality vodka, which acts as the solvent for extracting the alcohol-soluble compounds, including powerful triterpenes, sterols, and alkaloids. These compounds are known for their adaptogenic and immune-supporting benefits. The mushrooms are submerged in the vodka for a full 8 weeks, allowing ample time for the alcohol to thoroughly extract the valuable medicinal properties. During this period, the mixture is shaken regularly to ensure even extraction, helping to draw out every last bit of goodness from the mushrooms. This slow, patient process ensures that every drop of tincture captures the essence of the mushroom’s healing compounds, resulting in a rich, potent extract that offers maximum effectiveness.
Press and Filter

After the maceration phase is complete, the mixture undergoes a careful pressing and filtration process to separate the potent liquid extract from the remaining mushroom solids (also called the marc). We use a stainless-steel tincture press to apply steady pressure, ensuring that every last drop of the alcohol extract—rich in valuable alcohol-soluble compounds like triterpenes, sterols, and alkaloids—is collected. This pressing step maximizes yield and ensures little of the extraction is left behind in the plant matter.
Once pressed, the liquid is then filtered to remove any fine particles or sediment. We typically use a heat sterilized "milk bag" to produce a clean, clear tincture. This careful filtration not only improves the tincture’s appearance but also ensures a smooth, sediment-free product that’s ready for the next stage of the dual-extraction process.
Now for the water extraction.

Once the alcohol extraction is complete, the remaining mushroom material—known as the marc—is not wasted. This solid matter still holds a wealth of water-soluble compounds that require a different extraction method to be fully unlocked. We take this marc and carefully transfer it to a large stainless-steel vessel, where it is gently simmered in purified water for an extended period, typically around 4 hours, at a controlled temperature of 160–180°F (71–82°C).
This slow, gentle decoction process allows us to extract the beneficial water-soluble constituents, including beta-glucans and polysaccharides, which are known to support immune health and overall vitality. Maintaining a consistent, moderate temperature is crucial—excessive heat can degrade these delicate compounds, so we take great care to avoid boiling, instead keeping the water at a gentle simmer to preserve the integrity of the extract.
After the simmering is complete, the liquid is separated from the spent mushroom material. We perform a second pressing and filtering , the same process as the method used for the alcohol extraction This produces a clean, rich, and potent water extract, ready to be combined with the alcohol extract to create our full-spectrum dual-extracted mushroom tincture.
The final tincture

Once both extraction processes are complete—the alcohol extraction rich in triterpenes, sterols, and other alcohol-soluble compounds, and the water decoction abundant in immune-supportive polysaccharides and beta-glucans—they are carefully blended together to create our full-spectrum, dual-extracted mushroom tincture.
We combine these two extracts with intentional ratios to ensure a balanced and potent final product. This careful formulation process allows us to honor the synergy of the mushroom’s full array of beneficial compounds, offering you a tincture that captures both the adaptogenic and immune-modulating properties that these fungi are revered for.
The final blend typically results in an alcohol content of around 30-35%. This percentage is carefully calibrated—not only to maintain the integrity of the bioactive compounds but also to naturally preserve the tincture without the need for synthetic preservatives or additives. The alcohol serves as both a powerful solvent and a natural preservative, ensuring that your tincture remains shelf-stable, potent, and effective over time.
The result is a clean, pure, and highly bioavailable tincture that delivers the comprehensive benefits of dual extraction, as nature intended.
Time to bottle

Once the dual-extracted tincture has been carefully blended and quality-checked, we move on to the final step: bottling. This is where our attention to detail truly shines, ensuring that each bottle you receive is as pure and potent as the day it was made.
We bottle our tinctures in amber glass bottles, available in both 2oz and 4oz sizes. Amber glass is chosen specifically for its ability to protect the tincture from UV light exposure, which can degrade delicate bioactive compounds over time. This helps preserve the tincture’s potency and effectiveness, naturally extending its shelf life.
Before filling, each bottle is thoroughly sterilized to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and purity. Using food-grade, stainless-steel equipment, we carefully measure and hand-pour each tincture to ensure accurate dosing and consistent quality across every batch.
Each bottle is fitted with a dropper top, making it easy to measure the approximate doses for daily use. Once sealed, we apply our hand cut and printed in house labels, which include the batch number, ingredients, alcohol percentage, and recommended dosage instructions—providing you with transparency and traceability from start to finish.
We take great pride in offering a product that’s crafted with intention, integrity, and respect for the powerful mushrooms we work with.

Why Dual Extraction?
Dual extraction is a highly effective method that ensures you receive the full spectrum of beneficial compounds from medicinal mushrooms. Many of the most potent immune-supporting compounds, such as beta-glucans, are only water-soluble. Beta-glucans, known for their ability to modulate the immune system, are best extracted using hot water. On the other hand, adaptogenic compounds such as triterpenes, sterols, and alkaloids, which provide stress-resilience and anti-inflammatory benefits, are alcohol-soluble. These compounds require alcohol for proper extraction.
By employing both water and alcohol extractions, we are able to pull out a broader range of active compounds than if we used just one method alone. This ensures that you are receiving the full medicinal potential of the mushroom, with both the immune-boosting benefits of the polysaccharides (from the water extract) and the adaptogenic qualities of the triterpenes and sterols (from the alcohol extract).
The dual-extraction process also makes the tincture more bioavailable, meaning your body is better able to absorb and utilize the beneficial compounds. This makes the tincture not only more potent, but also more effective. Research has shown that dual extraction increases the bioavailability and potency of medicinal mushrooms, ensuring that the compounds are extracted in a way that maximizes their therapeutic potential.
